So, you may not have known this, but I am a history channel addict. They've had a few different shows on doomsday prophecies and a bunch of them seem to agree that the world will end either exactly on Dec. 21 2012, or in the year 2012. Many of the sources of these prophecies have been known to make chillingly accurate prophecies before, although you could just argue that they only seem accurate because they are vague and open to interpretation. Still, in some incidences it is hard to argue that, like when they use precise dates and names in their predictions. Some of the sources that predict this doomsday include the Mayan calendar, other Native Americans, The Bible, Merlin, an online prophecy program called Web-Bot, a few different Roman oracles, etc. The list goes on. Science seems to support that something along the lines of a natural disaster is possible at this time. But then there are the predictions of war and other things that science can't predict. Although you have to look around and agree that there's a good chance we're all going to kill each other. But there's always been war. I don't know if this dooms date has been predicted more than any other, there always seems to be one crazy guy running around screaming "The End is Near!" no matter what century you're living in.(I'm picturing that guy from Disney's Hercules right now, fyi) And I seem to remember a lot of commotion a few years back when 2000 came rolling around. All that hype was followed up by nothing devastating, besides the last day of winter vacation that is (The nine year old me had much to be disappointed about that year, we were all expecting school to be canceled due to the y2k bug, but nothing) Anyways, who else has heard about these prophecies or others like them? Do you think it's true at all or is it just a bunch of mumbojumbo? None of these predictions offer much advice on preventing such a catastrophic event; have you heard any that do? Please share stories and opinions. I think this is pretty interesting.
